Driven by its vision to deliver innovative solutions, HEKTAŞ, which plays a leading role in Türkiye’s agricultural sector through its R&D activities, also demonstrates a standout performance through its sustainability approach. Continuing its operations with an environmentally conscious, innovative, and responsible production mindset, HEKTAŞ ranked second globally in the agrochemicals sector in the ESG (environmental, social and governance) sustainability rating carried out by LSEG. With this achievement, HEKTAŞ fulfilled the requirements for entry into the BIST Sustainability Index and became the first company in its sector to be included in the index.

Outperforming global giants
Noting that today investors assess a company’s sustainability level through its performance and scores in internationally recognized ESG sustainability indices before making an investment decision, Terzi continued as follows: “In the ESG sustainability rating conducted by LSEG, we achieved a highly valuable success by ranking second in the agrochemicals category with a score of 78. This rating, in which we outperformed the strongest international players in our sector, demonstrates that our company meets environmental and social responsibility criteria at the highest level and is positioned as a reliable actor in the eyes of international investors and stakeholders. We regard this achievement, which reflects our respect for nature, our innovative efforts for sustainable production, and our entire team acting with a shared vision, as a new milestone in our sustainability journey.”


A sector first
Terzi stated that, with the high scores obtained in LSEG’s ESG sustainability rating, they more than met all the criteria required for inclusion in the BIST Sustainability Index, adding: “Following the announcement of our scores, we engaged with Borsa Istanbul and initiated the process for entry into the BIST Sustainability Index. After the evaluations carried out by Borsa Istanbul, we became the first company in the agrochemical sector to be included in the BIST Sustainability Index.”
Putting sustainability at the core of its business
Sharing their targets for the period ahead in the field of sustainability, Enis Emre Terzi concluded: “For the period after 2026, we plan to calculate the carbon emissions of our product groups and determine the carbon footprint of our products, increase our farmers’ awareness of waste management, and implement improvements in sustainable supply chain management. At HEKTAŞ, we will continue with determination to create value for our country and our sector by placing sustainability at the core of our business.”



Pioneering steps in sustainability
Some of HEKTAŞ’s leading sustainability initiatives in the sector include the following:

  • By optimizing the washing process in its production lines, HEKTAŞ achieves production that is 8 to 10 times more efficient through water recovery.
  • Through the Animal-Origin Amino Acid Production Process, sustainability is supported both economically and ecologically by recovering valuable compounds from animal waste.
  • HEKTAŞ documented its production processes with products holding registered certificates for plant protection products permitted in organic farming. HEKTAŞ holds 12 such certificates, while Ferbis holds 11.
  • Expanding its registered seed portfolio at the Gebze R&D Center, following the 14-chromosome einkorn wheat varieties “Atasiyez” and “Mergüze”, four new bread wheat varieties developed by the R&D Center (Süngü, Gazi 38, Kahraman, and Ulubaş) were registered and added to the national variety list.
  • Through Industry 4.0 production lines, process optimizations were implemented, preventing workforce losses and supporting productivity-enhancing efforts.
  • Seven projects delivering process optimization were completed by production and project maintenance teams.
  • As part of social and corporate activities at the Orhangazi HEKTAŞ F.A.R.M. facility, more than 10,000 guests were hosted between 2022 and 2024.
  • Under efforts initiated in 2024 to improve energy efficiency, the ISO 50001 Energy Management System certificate was obtained in 2025.
  • With 45 R&D projects launched in 2025, a significant step was taken toward developing innovative solutions.
